Our 10 YEAR Anniversary: West Baden Springs

First of all, Let me express how crazy it is that we have been married for 10 YEARS!  We were talking about how long we have been together and both agreed that it seemed funny now that the majority of our memories are of us together- We have almost been together half of our lives!  I wouldn't trade that for anything.  I truly have married my best friend and I am so grateful for all that we have experienced together.  Ours is a happy love story, and I am excited to continue to add more chapters to the book.
We wanted to go all out for the 10 year, but honestly- we didn't really plan like we should have and snuck away for a long weekend instead.  We ended up in West Baden Springs, IN.  It was a not a bad little drive, so we left early that morning and spent the afternoon in Louisville browsing and eating lunch.  We headed on out to Indiana to get busy exploring!

This place is AMAZING!  It was built because of the nearby springs and has a little bit of everything!  Clay has been teaching me to play golf, and we were excited to find out that they had a beginner golf course at the French Lick Resort, just next door!  The most striking thing about the hotel itself is the HUGE dome!  It is wild!  It is just out in the middle of nowhere and then- BAM!  There is this huge structure!

We did quite a bit of front-porch-sitting.

And played some checkers...

I LOVED that they decorated with pictures from the resort's past- this place has worn many hats!  It was a college, a church, and a hospital after the war.  We even talked to a lady who said she used to go watch her husband play basketball there.  The locals are all so proud of the resort and its restoration, apparently it had been let go after the depression and was very run down before they decided to re-open in 2007 (I think...?)

We had a great time and got to spend a lot of time relaxing and playing golf (27 holes for Clay to be exact...)and even snuck in a little tennis!  Happy to celebrate this wonderful milestone with my best buddy and so thankful for "us".
