Clay and I took our first trip together without Amelia! She and Tybee were more than happy for us to leave them with NaNee and Bobbi (who we appreciate very much, by the way). We were really excited about the opportunity to sleep- and more than that the opportunity to sleep without listening. Unfortunately, we chose a city who is most known for its nightlife...so we didn't exactly fulfill all of our expectations. On top of staying out late, we popped up at about 7 am every morning. So disappointed in ourselves, we are. We had a FANTASTIC time though! Nashville is a really neat city!
The forecast for the day was rather grim- they were supposed to get 1-3 inches of snow. It did snow, but it didn't stick. It worked out perfect for us! We rode around and got acquainted with the city the first day and then checked in to our hotel.
While walking to the elevator at the hotel, we noticed some women walking fast and talking loudly. We saw that they were following a man in a wheelchair who was coming up to the elevator with us from the other side. The first thing I noticed was his shiny shoes. When we didn't speak at first he raised his hand and said, "hey." It was confirmed- he was in fact, for sure Little Richard... and we didn't know what in the world to say... other than, "HEEEEYYY!" By the time it sank in the women had approached and the elevator door opened. His wheelchair man politely signaled us to take the elevator. And that was the last we saw of Little Richard. We did see them get off the elevator on our floor from across the hotel. So naturally, every time I went out of the room or came into the hotel I loudly whispered, "Little Richard..." sometimes followed by a "yeee heee!" After that EVERYWHERE we went was playing one of his songs and we are still kicking ourselves for not whipping out the camera. We were extremely respectful fans.

Miss Kimberly Perry, who by the way, sounds WONDERFUL (if not better) live.
It was a really great concert. We got to hear some of their new stuff and all of their goodies. It was also a special night at the Ryman because it was the first performance on their new stage.
And oh yes, oh yes, we hit up all the honky tonks... good stuff and lots of fun.
Clay and I really enjoyed the trip and spending time together. We missed the little ladies, but sometimes it's nice to leave a little of the responsibility at home. Thanks for a good time, husband.
