Carolina Love Fest

Every couple of years we look forward to "The Morton Family Vacation!!!"  Barb and Dave always treat us to a very nice trip with the family.  We usually go to Gatlinburg around Christmas time, but we decided to take an early fall break to Wild Dunes and Charleston.  I had no idea how beautiful it was out there!  Clay and I had been to Charleston during the college years to visit with one of my very best friends, Sarah (who is expecting her sweet bundle of joy any day now).  We had never ventured out to Wild Dunes/Isle of Palms area.  It was really lovely.  The house we stayed in was wonderful and we were right on the end of the Island just across from the beach.  Everyone was able to visit Charleston, enjoy the scenery, and of course some GREAT food.

All of this sounds wonderful, right?  Well it is not even the best news of all...
KATIE AND LANDON GOT ENGAGED!!!
We were all so excited when Katie and Landon came back from the beach and he had "put a ring on it".  We think Landon is just great!  He is a really nice guy and fits in quite well with our bunch.  We are ever so excited for these two to have made it official- LET THE PLANNING BEGIN!  I am so fired up!

I have to say, I did an almost terrible job of taking my camera with us on our outings- so apologies for the lack of pictures.  We did round everyone up for some front step pictures after dinner one evening, thankfully.
Tybee was much more interested in playing games on my phone than cheesing for pictures- and who knows where their bows are???

Ocean Point

We did not make this sandcastle as Amelia Clare decided to have an absolute breakdown almost 5 minutes into our beach time, which ended in about 10 minutes.

We saw deer on several occasions, this one and a little fawn were in our back yard.

Clay enjoyed lots of good food.

Dave and Barb

We were pretending that this was our house.

This is what we would look like if we were way more awesome than we are now.

and this is just us :)

Katie must have felt the love in the air because she was in rare form for her photo shoots.

They too, liked to pretend that this was their house.

ENGAGED!!!

We had a great trip and hopefully will be back again in a couple more!!!  Thanks to David and Barbara for everything!  We really appreciated the great trip!
